What is a Harvest Pick and Sale you ask? Well, for all you gardeners and Farmer Market shoppers, this is a sale to share your baked, canned or frozen items from the fresh garden produce you grew or bought. When rhubarb is in season, what do you do with that huge plant you have growing? You could make jam, sauce or a baked item, set it aside and bring it to Trinity for our sale. Next, strawberries! Who can’t resist homemade fresh strawberry jam, and why not add some of that rhubarb to the recipe. Next in the growing season are zucchini, tomatoes, pickles, beans, herbs….the bounty is endless. That zucchini that hid from you and got huge, what do you do with it? How about making bread or a cake? Tomatoes! Who doesn’t love fresh salsa with your chips, fresh sauce for your pasta. Pesto anyone? Do you can? Pickles, vegetables and juice, and peaches, apples…what do you think of….pie! I think you are getting the idea now.
September 23rd is the day of the sale, we would like you to bring your items to church. Please label your creations. Also fresh produce is a welcome addition to the sale.
The Christian Nurture & Fellowship committee is sponsoring this event for two reasons: First, this will give the great cooks and bakers of Trinity a chance to share their creations with others of the congregation. Second, and most important, it is to fund our Camp Scholarship.
You have the whole growing season ahead of you to create some tasty offerings that will help build up our Camp Scholarship Fund to encourage our campers to take advantage of the great camps the UCC has.
